7/30/2006 Strange ...OK, I know I should be filling you all in on my vacation but something strange just happened so I'm going to address that first. It's like 10:15 AM on a Sunday morning and my doorbell just rang. You're probably thinking that's not so odd but it is. I go to the door thinking that it might be one of the kids in the hood wondering if Sierra was home or maybe the electrician (they work some odd hours). So I open the door and it's this couple that I've never seen before. The guys asks me if this is a multi-family house. "A what?" I said. He asks again if this is a multi-family house to which I say no. Then he said "oh you're just doing construction, thank you". Very strange!
Which leads me to the second topic of the day ...house construction. When we returned from vacation the siding was finished! The house looked much bigger but it's like a big box, no dimension. For the past week I have been saying that it looks like an apartment building and now people are ringing the door looking for a place to stay!! It's kind of funny but we need to do something about the appearance of the front of the house. This whole project is going in stages, next year we planned on adding a front porch. Now I think I need something in the big empty area above the front door. The shutters aren't on yet, maybe they will help
Third topic ...vacation!!! Can I just say that I wish I was back at the ocean. A fun time was had by all. We made good time on getting there despite leaving an hour later than anticipated. The first day was low key, got groceries and whatnot. The next day would begin the typical vacation routine, ocean, pool, lunch, ocean, showers and then out for the evening. Of course there were several trips to the boardwalk at night where the kids would attempt to win .25 cent items ...1 minute and $10.00 later they had a small prize. It's vacation so it's OK. There are rides at the boardwalk but they didn't go on many this year. I don't care for rides so it was fine by me. Vacation wouldn't be complete without a round of mini-golf. There's a mini-golf on just about every corner so there was a decision to be made, we went with the dinosaurs. I didn't do well but I managed to do a little better than my youngest, although he got a hole in one and I didn't. What does that say about me? LOL Our trip home was not a timely as the trip there. What should have taken a little over 6 hours took us 8 with 6 stops along the way.
Last topic (for now) ...school. Yes, I'm still attending and doing well. This online learning thing takes some getting used to. I am looking forward to my next week off of classes which begins on my birthday! WOO HOO! 7/15/2006 VacationI'm going on vacation ...WOO HOO!!!
Off to the ocean for a well needed rest. However ...I'll have homework to do. *sigh* It's OK, at least I'll be away from work and construction for a whole week.
Hope you all have a great week ...I'll be checking blogs while I'm away ...I have a lot to catch up on. 7/11/2006 American IdolWe just got home from the American Idol concert so I figured why not give a brief review.
It was good.
The End
HA HA HA ...I crack myself up!
OK, OK ...Seriously, the concert was the best of the American Idols yet. I don't know how they'll top the talent next year but I'll be there to find out. All of the performances were great but Chris and Taylor were awesome. Of the girls I would have to say that Mandisa out sang the rest. But I think they were all good ...guess this why I'm not in the review business. Usually I have a strong opinion on any given topic ...I'm disappointing myself here. LOL Oh well, I guess I just thought they were all good, nothing wrong with that. Chris and Elliott (my personal fav) sang together and they were hot! Paris and Lisa also sang together and I think they have a little En Vogue thing going on. Katherine was not there due to illness (it was ok, she's not on the top of my list) and Chris, Bucky, Elliott and Ace sang GNR's Patience in dedication to her. Taylor entered through the audience one row over from us singing an Elvis tune I think. He's the total package, that man can perform ...the women loved him!! They all came back for an encore singing Queen's We are the Champions.
Great show!!! If you have the chance go see it, you won't be let down. 7/10/2006 tyDear MSN,
Thank You for finally allowing me to have enough time to write this blog before the space freezes up on me. Now that I'm here I have lost what it was I wanted to write about in the first place! *sigh*
Sincerely,
Kim
ps: with all the changes you make, can you please include spell check next time ...just a suggestion 7/5/2006 Moving right alongCheck out the house phase 2 pics ...these guys mean business! They had the second floor and roof gone in under 2 hours! I'm glad I wasn't home. LOL 7/4/2006 Have a happy ...Happy 4th of July!!!
I don't know about the rest of you but I spent a majority of my day watching the space shuttle prepare for take off. Thankfully, it all went well. OH, we also kind of watched the hot dog eating contest. I say kind of because it's too gross to watch the whole thing. Now we're waiting for the weather to clear so we can go watch the fireworks.
7/2/2006 Brrrrrr ...If there's one thing that I don't need in the morning it's finding out the hard way that there's no hot water. Yesterday I went to take a shower, turned the water on and waited for it to warm up. And waited ...and waited ...oh it didn't happen! Now what was I to do? I can't leave the house without taking a shower, I just can't. There was no other choice, I had to go in. I tried to imagine it was 50,000 degrees outside and the cold shower would be refreshing. Ummmmm ..yeah ...no! By the time all was said and done I think I was blue. I never realized how cold 'cold water' really is.
So then I thought ...this has to be the electricians handy work! Either that or the hot water tank went and I really was hoping that wasn't the case. So, I blamed the electrician. Good thing he was coming back to my house to do work that same day. I left a note on the door stating "no hot water, not sure if it's an electrical thing or the tank itself". We went out to do the things we had to do and when we got home the guys were still there. Well, don't you know I was right, the guy forgot to turn it back on. Looking back I find it funny and I'm happy that I do not need to replace the hot water heater.
And this is only the first week of construction. LOL |
